For minutes on end, a synthesised voice reads out a script – the programming of an internet rating portal – on which a "ranking" is generated using algorithmic ratings of people offering a service.
This spoken script forms the basis for an image animation. For each word or character, for example < (smaller than), span, class or = (is equal to), Roswitha von den Driesch and Jens-Uwe Dyffort found the corresponding images via search engines on the Internet. By linking images and sound, 4 image animations were created that can be heard and seen on 4 smartphones. They not only raise questions about evaluation and rating systems on the internet, but also address the trend towards self-improvement – with the help of self-optimisation apps.
The speakers are Veena, Tessa, Alex and Daniel.
